Here I am again. My new Gateway computer is still in its boxes. I've ordered an upgrade, a drive that can write to a CD, so there's a little delay. In the meantime, I'm still defragging in Safe Mode.

Which brings me to today's question...

The way i get into Safe Mode is the one i learned here, by rebooting, and touching the F5 key when i hear the beep.

But I just noticed something weird. The speaker icon is missing from my task bar. It's always been there! And I know it was there this morning, because I defragged this morning and heard the beep.

I've tried to find it, but can't. Can anyone suggest where it might be and how I can get back?
