fyo, on 1.7 GHz+ Pally's -- I think the thread is getting a little carried away assuming Pally is only limited in MHz by heat dissipation. Is it possible that the Jack Robertson article that spoke about 1.3 to 1.4 GHz notebook Palominos was really talking about the MHz rating of the desktop chips? He may gave gotten some inside info that Pally chips were "running in the labs" at 1.3 to 1.4 GHz and wrongly assumed that these were notebook chips.

If Palomino only offers higher IPC and lower power consumption, but no higher MHz, it will be limited to notebooks and some 1U server applications. Forgive me, but I'm getting this strange K6-3-like deja vu.
