Mark: Muse is a promising company -- but I do not know enough about their new product pipeline. They have a high sales to equity ratio and their product focus is pretty narrow -- the issue is whether they will choose to deliver services both at the edge and the backbone. New entrants could service the backbone if MUSE chooses to stay focused on a range of software services to the edge. Make no mistake, optical networks will be both distributed and centralized at the same time -- they will increasingly resemble brain-like architecture. Software is the key to brain-function and more functionality will coming from more intensive software application and less reliance on specialized hardware. Look for an IPO within 24 months to create a new "MUSE-like" company servicing the backbone.
