I think you have to intervene when a state begins to attack other recognized states. But that is all. I don't care whether people agree. If I did I would be trapped in group think. What other people think is irrelevant to my ideas. It is not irrelevant to my actions- but my intellectual life is separate from my actions.

If so, I find that a rather amazing answer and one that, I believe, few others would agree with. I realize that gov'ts rarely intervene to stop genocide in another country, but that that is because they do not wish for a war- -not because they approve.

Saying that other societies have a right to do their own thing is not the same thing as approving just as electing to not intervene does not necessarily mean approval. There are other considerations than just whether we approve or disapprove.
