Dear Paul:

Yes, I believe that was a slip like Itanium, McKinley, P3 1.13G, and many others from both companies. The competition forced Intel to give up the luxury of burying the slips under the FUD of "our competitors do not have anything good enough for it to be released". I do not like the responses given by PR for slips due to failing to meet overly optimistic schedules by marketing. They can try but, it is better to release a good product than a buggy one. The FDIV and P3 1.13G have made that quite clear.

Competition forces an improve or die on organizations. Buggy is not allowed and is punished. Coming clean minimizes the punishment and hiding increases it.
