Technology Stocks : Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM) -- Ignore unavailable to you. Want to Upgrade?

Qualcomm will collect royalties on every single cdma phone Sprint and Verizon sells, TV. The question is how many additional phones will be bought as the result of the upgrade.

Would the same apply to internet devices like Palm Pilots or Pocket PCs? That is the part that confuses me. How about a device that is a phone and a "browsing device"?

Since you asked about Microsoft:
Here is goes.

Microsoft is my largest holding. I have started following its developments recently. Felt the dot.com bubble bursting along with all the Linux stocks crashing..has put MSFT in an incredibly powerful position, just like the old days. The earnings were the proof. Of course a PC price war benefits MSFT even if it hurts Intel, Dell, CPQ.
I think the DOJ was basically DOA in appeals; just waiting for the confirmation of this.

Lots in their pipeline.

In addition, looked into the recent disputes between AOL and Microsoft and realized that Softee is going to be calling the shots. Looks like MSFT wants to get back at AOL for using the DOJ.
I have decided that I am not going to bet against Bill Gates.

The take no prisoners attitude has been quietly coming back...and that is why I loaded up on it. Every time some rumor starts on product delays, I add a little more on weakness. That is the best time to increase holdings.

It seems the biggest beneficiary of the dot.com bubble bursting was Microsoft.

The Appeals Court decision can come any day. My bet is as investors find out the date of the ruling, the stock will gain 10 points into the decision.
I am expecting a totally one sided decision in favor of Microsoft....totally the opposite of what Judge Jackson ruled. Jackson also put the higher court judges down a lot..and even tried to get the case right to the Supreme Court (unsuccessfully) while the Appeals Court was sending signals to the Supreme Court that if they send it down, Appeals will proceed quickly. I don't believe he really considered the case of national importance that it should skip other levels of appeals. I believe he was just worried about being overturned.
The Appeals Court's special hearing on the Jackson's conduct just about seals it.
He really bad mouthed his bosses (Appeals) and he completely ignored the fact that he was overturned by Appeals on his Windows95 ruling. They had basically set a precedent that he ignored in his Windows98 ruling.
Sum it all up....and you get a pretty clear picture of what is about to happen. Maybe Microsoft's bad job of defending their position in Jackson's court might now come back to benefit them...a very strange twist.

(sorry about going on and on MSFT but I am very upbeat on the stock)
