To: Alex Molnar who wrote (19248 ) 4/30/2001 11:59:43 AM From: Big Dog Respond to of 110653 From Microsoft re mlang.dll: The problem could occur when you have installed Internet Explorer 6. Some files, such as mlang.dll is in version 6.xxxx even if your uninstall IE. You can find the file -> Right click it and select Properties. The version information of this file will be shown on the Version tab. Outlook will share some DLL files with Internet Explorer. To solve the problem, perform the following steps: 1) Replace the Mlang.dll file for IE 6.0 with the Mlang.dll file for IE 5.5. A) Search Mlang.dll file on the computer from Start->Find and record the path of the file. For example, c:\Windows\System B) Run "Regsvr32 /u <path of Mlang.dll>\Mlang.dll" from Start->Run to unregister the mlang.dll file. For example, "Regsvr32 /u c:\Windows\System\Mlang.dll" C) Start Windows 98 in Safe Mode and rename the Mlang.dll file to Mlang.old file. To start Windows 98 in Safe Mode: 1. Restart your computer. 2. Press and hold down the CTRL (or F8) key until you see the Windows 98 Startup menu 3. Choose Safe Mode. D) Copy the attached Mlang.dll fileto the path of the Mlang.old file. E) Run "Regsvr32 <path of Mlang.dll>\Mlang.dll" from Start->Run to register the mlang.dll file. 2) I recommend you use the following steps to leave a copy of the messages on the server to backup it. A)Start Outlook. B) On the Tools menu, click Account. C) Select your email account and click properties button. D) On the Advanced tab, check the "Leave a copy of message on the server check box" Note: Any steps above cannot retrieve the lost data (subject and body) in the messages. In addition, the IE 6.0 beta version is still in testing, and I strongly recommend that you do not install this on your working machine. I look forward to receiving your results and feedback. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to let me know. I will respond as soon as possible. Best regards, Jim Sun Support Engineer Microsoft Office Online Support
