tom re, "I am not able to access my e-mail through Outlook" and specifically, "MSIMN caused an invalid page default in module MSOE.DLL" try here support.microsoft.com re, "Deleted* the rest as you suggested and tried it again", in reference to background applications running that may be writing to disk when you try to defrag or run scan disk...... for clarification, tom, my suggestion was to "close everything except explorer and systray"*, not delete. i'm sure that's what you meant (close), but for the sake of computer learning, i wish to make that distinction. <g3> good luck and let us know how it works :) mark

I have DSL and find that in order to do a defrag I have to power off my DSL modem otherwise I continue to get "Writing to disk" message. I just downloaded the PowerDefrag program and it doesn't seem to produce any imporvements. I will try again later, though. Nice board! Thanks to GottFries? for pointing me!
