I think people trust the press release pro-forma numbers way too much. They should be getting punished for not doing better research on the company but instead they are getting rewarded of late. Of course, that will end eventually.

I noticed last week that briefing.com did a positive report on HOMS in their story stocks section. I've usually found that they were decent about looking past the headline numbers. Not this time. It was all positive. They referred to HOMS as a good long term hold. I e-mailed the guy and told him that he needed to do more research and asked him what he thought of the widening GAAP losses. He responded saying we'll see who is right in the end and pointed to the numerous stock upgrades as backing for his point. I didn't bother pointing out that all these same analysts loved the dot-coms when they started and that they were upgrading all sorts of NASDAQ stocks right and left at 5000. It seemed like a lost cause.

In defense of briefing.com, I didn't recognize this guy's name so perhaps he's new.
