Thanks, Win. I hadn't seen that one. Disturbing, yes. I've been trying to find more things since what happened in Cinncinatti (sp).

It does seem we've unleashed something beyond what we have always faced, due to our "war on drugs". Maybe it will be the turner.

I find where I am that it does go community to community. For the first time there are a lot of people from Mexico beginning to stay here and take jobs. In one nearby town they recently busted several police who were, essentially, shaking them down. But the positive is that they did take action, including an investigation by the FBI. In another cummunity there is a lot of talk about working them into the fabric of the community, about relations with people, about police behavior, about services. In it's small town newspaper there are numerous articles talking about the change in the town's makeup and how to adapt, for everyone. It's encouraging.

I'll have to find out from my mother where she saw the list but she mentioned it to me the other day ~ it was the top 20 worst towns for race relations. There was only one southern town on it.

I would NOT say we all like each other here and that there is not a lot of utter dislike, to put it politely, but we have learned a lot about living at peace. The wounds and lessons of the 60's are alive and well, and mostly for the better.
