Calls expire on the third Friday of each month. So on April 30 the nearest call you can sell is the May call. The April call has already expired about 10 days before. On May 1, that's still true. The difference is that there is one day less of time value in the call sold on May 1.
Freeus, asking the group for specific guidance is surely risky. Did you consistently make money before following some collective tips? Telling you that you should sell such and such a call takes the risk of making you lose money or opportunity. You lose money if you buy the stock at 40 in order to sell the call and when the call expires the stock price is under 40, by more than what you received for the call. You have to study the matter and make sure that you won't mind being in QCOM or SEBL or whatever even if you lose money on this particular call transaction I think you should only own what you understand. I need not remind you that this often interesting and often profitable game is for real money and for keeps.
