Bacchus,

You are right the margin issue does indeed complicate Redbirds strategy which is why in my reply to him I mentioned that I might try a lower number of puts, 50 instead of 100, maybe even less. But his strategy would allow me to get out from under the calls on at least a portion of my position and then if AMD appreciates some more I would be able to take a profit on some of it instead of being forced to ride it up and down until 2003. In that sense I like the idea a lot :)
