No one is ever exactly what they are in 3d in cyber space. Some people are under the delusion they are, but (imo) that's all it is, a delusion. And other people take advantage of cyber space to create avatars. Which I find interesting. And sometimes the Avatars are much more interesting than the actual people. Speaking as someone who has gone to all the SI parties and met the people behind the facades. My dear friends were not a disappointment- but the casual acquaintances I spied on at some of the big SI functions were a let down. The body, the posturing of convention, can be a distracting and boring nuisance (again jmo). People that are one's antithesis in 3d one tolerates, silently screaming. In cyber space one can find other ways to react. Or not. I don't know what is best. I only know I do what I want to do. You can't please everyone, so I please myself.
