If you mean by cost of processor to vendor, this is definitely true. Intel's cut off price is $189. Anything below $189 is value segment to Intel, and AMD's most expensive processor is currently less than $189.

Then again, at the rate Intel is going, other than for their Xeon line of processors, they will be playing strictly in the value segment of the market by years end too. AMD views Clawhammer as their chance to break out of the value segment of the desktop market. Intel will spoil this party by selling their highest speed grade Northwood at less than $180.
