Good engineering is well respected everywhere. I don't know what your point is relative to French engineers.

Once while back in the states I started telling a neighbor originally from Argentina how great some of the newspapers were in South America, and how much almost anyone know about world events. He quickly put me in my place. In effect he said, "everyone in my country knows all about what is happening in the rest of the world, where we can't do anything about it. Most Americans know nothing about the world but are active in their schools and communities."
