cb, is there a nurse shortage or are hospitals trying to save a couple bucks and maximize profits?

OT/Cutting the nurses per patient ratio is the key to keeping cost down when prices are fixed per medicare and insurace companies. Less nurses less tests done less procedures done less medications given and after a few days patients are dying to leave the hospital

CB,

we have a nursing shortage as well. it's partly due to hospital cutting cost and the fact that there isn't enough nurses around.

many excellent nurses change profession....they get more education and move into managerial positions.

we (our society) don't reward people who really care for other people--teachers, nurses,,,etc.

we like to pay our superstars $10-50 million/year.

people complain about the cost of health care, but they don't mind spending $200 to take their family to a football game.
