Funny thing, Gene. If you look at the dell outlet listings now, at outlet.dell.com , essentially all the Dimension series desktops being recycled are p4's. 30 pages 8100's, 30 pages for all. I have no idea what to make of that.

Gene:
One fifth of home desktops is a long ways from 1/5th of PC sales

I was assuming that Dell is delivering the higher percentage industry wide of RDRAM solutions and according to dataquest has about 14% of the desktop market. Using that percentage and one in five P4 sales at Dell, I come up with my 5% estimate RDRAM estimate. No where did I say that RDRAM has 20% market share.

Don't know how it splits between Home and Business segments, but I suspect Business is larger.

I would believe that SOHO/homeowner market is larger than business market. It is just not as lucrative.
