Excellent contribution, Don. And probably good advice, regarding all the royalty trusts, would be to check the tax consequences. I was told by an investor in the Louisiana Land and Exploration trust that he had to fill out state tax forms for Alabama, for example. For those wishing to check out a good yield in a batch of securities that have performed very (like VERY) well over the past year, my list included BPT CRT HGT LRT MTR PBT SBR SJT and TRU. But the Canadian trusts, best I can figure, are more conservatively valued, so I prefer ERF and NCN, in that order. ERF is the largest of the Canadian royalty trusts and is approved for the various pension programs in Canada, so I have treated them as if I had already done the dd. So far they have performed superbly...
FWIW, and just mho, of course..
