McMINN: Certainly we said we've put ourself on a path to increase profitability, quicker profitability, decreasing EBIDTA (ph) losses on a going forward basis and I think significantly the amount of capital that we need to get to cash flow positive is a small enough amount of capital that I don't really care if the problem markets come back. We can raise that capital from alternative sources, private sources, strategic partners.

McMINN: Actually, Stephanie, I would, from where we started this business around my kitchen table in 1996 I would never have thought that we could have gotten this far this fast. The financial markets when we started were very, very encouraging of the rapid deployment of broadband networks and we did deploy, raised the money and deployed in parallel what amounted to the top 53 markets in the United States. So in the last six months, of course, the markets have gotten a lot more negative. But I would rather have that situation of having a DSL network that passes 45 percent of all of the homes and businesses in the U.S. as quickly as we did. Our only job now is to load that network with sufficient number of subscribers to be profitable.

The demand for DSL continues to go through the roof. In the first quarter of this year we added 45,000 subscribers, which is an 80 percent growth rate in the business, and that's really the engine that's driving Covad and driving, you know, the DSL industry in general. The underlying demand hasn't changed. What's really changed is the financial markets and their perception about what's important and their patience in the market today.
