maybe...but when you get someone of the likes of UMC a chance to take a good shot at mighty INTC, they will bend over backwards to make it work. AMD is kicking INTC's ass and you clowns here are in denial. I don't care about 2 years down the road, who cares...we won't be needing anything more than the T-Birds going forward unless you are a CAD pro. Even Ford is bringing back the T-Bird to favor AMD <GGG>

Now repeat after me 100 times for therapy:
AMD is kicking INTC's ass and I'm an INTC clown in denial.
AMD is kicking INTC's ass and I'm an INTC clown in denial.
AMD is kicking INTC's ass and I'm an INTC clown in denial.
AMD is kicking INTC's ass and I'm an INTC clown in denial.
AMD is kicking INTC's ass and I'm an INTC clown in denial.
AMD is kicking INTC's ass and I'm an INTC clown in denial.
This chart speaks volumes:

"If anything this is almost certainly to offload the K6-2s. You don't just take a design like Athlon which is now running on the harry edge and ship it off to an ASIC foundry. Too much work involved porting to a new process."

Any mention of a timetable? Have they already started production? Are they shipping now? Will shipment begin at 0.13-micron copper during the 2nd half of 2002?

RE:"Yah right. AMD has so many orders they have to cut their prices by nearly 50%. If anything this is almost certainly to offload the K6-2s. You don't just take a design like Athlon which is now running on the harry edge and ship it off to an ASIC foundry. Too much work involved porting to a new process."

Maybe K62s, maybe Durons...to make room for Palomino...
Or maybe chipsets. I didn't write the article.
At any rate, AMD needs to free up some fab space.
