All right. We see progress here... The liberal mind is not as hopeless as it seems.

Now to small classes: A perfect assignment for the free market. Give the parents vouchers and let the emerging private education industry compete on class size and test results. The public schools (at least the few that are left) will have few enough students to take care of class size also. And "education bureaucracies" will quickly dry up and disappear.

Let's declare common ground now, and go after Daschlegephardt...

This talk of teachers and engineers reminds me of my college graduation (81). Somehow a bunch of us (School of Engineering) were next to a bunch of (soon to be) graduates from the School of Education. I can't remember whether we were segregated by College and School or not. School of Engineering something like +90% men. School of Education 100% women. I recall my room mate remarking, that he just realized he had wasted 4 years of his life in the wrong major.
