Scumbria, Addressing a register is a Rambus invention? LOL The judge seems to think that it is not a Rambus invention if the contents of the register are loaded over a non-multiplexed bus but it may be a Rambus invention if a multiplexed bus is used. Every storage location in a memory is a register. Most of them are used for storing "ordinary" data. One of them is used for storing the memory chip output delay value. If there are 2^n addresses plus one address for the delay register there is a total of 2^n + 1 storage locations. This requires n+1 address lines to access them if multiplexing is not used. If n or fewer address lines are present (which is the case for SDRAM) then the memory uses a multiplexed bus. But we knew that anyway. John
