Those who gave the money are certainly entitled to ask questions about whether it was used in the ways they intended.

I don't know that we here have any such right.

Did YOU ever give money to MT?

I didn't think so.

So I don't see that you have any proper interest in how the money was used or not used. Let these questions be raised by those whose money it was if they want to. But not by those who simply don't like her religion and want to find ways to attack her.

Reminds me of the rabid dogs who grabbed any excuse to try to bring down Clinton. Only this time you're one of the dogs instead of one of the defenders.

"Questioning the use of funds is hardly a prohibited field of inquiry in a free citizenry"

There is a difference between asking questions, publishing innuendo and audited statements. Until the latter has been published it is all tabloid journalism.

That may be substantially true, but it was not the point that engendered this discussion.

It was one of several points that started this conversation and it was the one getting the most attention. E's point about millions of dollars in bank accounts has IMO not been as solidly established. If it is true it could still be that the plan is to use this money over time, or to keep it as a reserve in case the order does encounter a funding shortfall. If someone had real evidence that these accounts were basically personal slush funds grabbed by the nuns for their personal enrichment then they would have a very effective attack on MT (either as being a fraud or as being incompetent in the management of her subordinates) but I haven't heard people really even claiming this let alone showing evidence for it.
