I don't believe that any country that seriously wanted to control us would want to destroy our infrastructure by bombing us with nuclear ICBM's. It would be much easier to to use other avenues like germ warfare. It would effectively wipe out a large section of the population while leaving the core of our industrial complex intact.

In fact, killing off too large a section of the population would be economically dumb. Why would you kill off your consumer market? We are the world's best consumers of everything.

Idealogy is not as important.........money is usually at the root of most evil. Power and pride lead to money......the trail is not hard to follow.

third, technology is not the goal, but as you call techno-trickle I call it the reason that the investment costs nothing. I think your theory on working with Russia is silly. The place is in the crapper and crooks are everywhere and you assume that the Russian's in charge are really in charge.

You may have no faith in the technology. I know the power of computers today and see the scaling of that power tomorrow. Investment in this kind of technology have who knows what potential. What process control and speed is needed to contain he magnetic fields to control fusion. What can speeding control processes mean in creating more pure or more precise control over the growth of crystals with smaller geometries that can operate even faster.
