Hal...that story sent the fear up my spine muchas the next one I am sure...but we do not know from that story that this was grossly misplaced centralized power. In order to have any kind of order we need some kind of governance. And this was a gated community, meaning it was understood that there was an association of homeowners messing with rules and regulations. Anyone entering such an arrangement takes their property ownership in their hands. And, they might have been elected for all we know. Further, from their point of view (small minded lazy beurocrats (sp ck wants autocrats!) are the same in any system) the lady simply ignored their efforts at resolving the issue. And, finally, the red tape she has to go through to right the injustice is purely American.

How about two last words? I guess what I am reacting to, Hal, is the fact that you put this off "us" as a society and put it on someone else; but this happened here, has happened here before, will happen here again, and is "our" problem as a society and we should take responsibility for our problems, not shuck them off on someone else.
