Prince, RE: I read an investor should buy stock with a six to nine month outlook, is this generally true?

There is no cut and dried time horizon. Different people in different situations require different time horizons.

Generally speaking, a 6 to 9 month time horizon is on the short end.

If you want a $25 share price on Cisco, I think the odds are extremely high you'll see that price at some point within the next 9-12 months. I won't say the odds are high of it staying there, until Chambers publicly states business is improving. So if you want to make 25%, you might just buy the stock on a pullback and then put in a sell order at $25. If you are willing to wait 9-12 months, then I would bet you get your money's worth. JMHO.
