That's very true.

What I love about boxing is that, unlike so many other sports - many of which I also watch, have played, and enjoy - is, in its' realization, bereft of the bullcrap that you find in baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and the like.

They (hopefully) suck down their fear, step in the ring, and after all the words, all the hype, etc., it's just them and another person. It's an all consuming sport that requires one to draw on every physical, mental, and emotional resource, and doesn't offer - at least, not convincingly, IMO - the potential safe haven of blaming teammates, equipment, etc.

On one special day, anyone can beat anyone in the ring. It brings out the best and worst in the fighters, and challenges them to beat not only their opponents, but themselves.
