St. Louis, May 3 (BridgeNews) - Shares of high-speed chip maker Rambus Inc.
were up 2.82, or 17.1%, to 19.22 in pre-market trade after Korea's Samsung
Electronics announced Thursday it has developed three customized Rambus modules
for use in networks, servers and high-performance personal computers.

Samsung, which accounted for 65% of the worldwide Rambus DRAM market in the
first quarter, predicts demand for the customized Rambus DRAMs will reach 20
million units in 2002, according to a Samsung press release.
As many as 400 million Rambus DRAMs are forecast to be sold this year,
Samsung said. Samsung expects to supply 150 million to 200 million of these
devices.
Los Altos, Calif.-based Rambus designs and licenses high-speed chip
technology for use in computers, consumer electronics and communications
systems. End
