Gottfried,

RE:"A good chunk of the longs here sold their positions ... another bunch went short."

This thread is sort of a contrarian indicator (sorry guys, no personal offense, please).

I am not sure whether people know too much, predict things way in advance, or simply focus on a different set of news, compared to average fund managers and investors. Or perhaps a combination of all of the above?

The price war with Intel is scary because from my (limited) perspective indicates a very significant change of attitude in part of Intel ... when was the last time they sold chips at 300 hundred bucks?? Their earnings are going to hurt, badly, IMO. And last year, after riding AMD all the way up and then all the way down, I sort of learned (a la Pavlov) that when the giant goes down, no matter what the little guy does, it goes down too. Well, Mr Market, finally, seems to be thinking differently. Is this the realization of the NG scenario? ;-)

Good luck to all the longs. I will watch from the sidelines for a bit and look for a good reentry point.
