Thirdeye, you describe well the situation. You have described a critical mass and steady state condition of acceptance of failure. I say it's time to stir the pot.

The school you describe is a failure and cheating children.

and cheating children
and cheating children
and cheating children

Those in the school you describe don't know how to get out of the failure.

you say >>>> A self-perpetuating nihilism exists there that should qualify as a crime.
I agree.
(an aside) I see virtually every platform of the democrat party as a self-perpetuating nihilism, education, energy policy, environmental policy, welfare and how the democrat's execute affirmative action. I'm going to steal that phrase "a self-perpetuating nihilism" (end aside)

Is drastic action required? Private individuals using the thinking of what is America want to try a different approach. If every public school in any place close and private schools educate and give children the opportunity to succeed, WHAT's THE PROBLEM???

So 10,000 public school teachers have to go and find a job where they have to earn a living, WHAT's THE PROBLEM???
I'm not saying send them to prison for the crimes they have perpetrated on children.

Their is no need to subsidize corn or milk that is not needed and no need to subsidize teachers who cheat children out of opportunity.
