FREEPORT, Ill. (CBS.MW) -- Wall Street was rinsing value out of shares in Newell Rubbermaid on Thursday on an earnings miss and the company's announcement of a "strategic restructuring" plan.

Before the bell Thursday, Newell Rubbermaid (NWL: news, msgs, alerts) posted first-quarter net income of $47.4 million, or 18 cents a share, way down from the $76.7 million, or 28 cents, the company recorded in the year-ago period and 1 cent off the First Call consensus estimate.
