Dell is obviously in complete control of the US PC industry pricing and is setting the pace. Each year we get a (recently declared) war with Dell accused of starting it.
What was not known is how far Mr G would go in slowing things down so the next few quarters are
uncertain for consumer spending and prevented Dell from making a forecast since it would only be guesswork.
IMO Dell has to proceed one quarter at a time with a big push in the last few days to meet the quotas.
Since Dell is in control, what would you do?
You don't have to answer, your posts have said that
This market is a dream come true if Dell's vision is to gain market share in the most efficient manner
Bad news for the industry is also a good excuse for eliminating surplus workers and re-assign workers from
declining segments to fast growing segments.
Serious business for directors and workers, but they are not adverse having a little fun, especially with analysts.
The next quarter seems impossible to call, but if given the chance to affect things I would be trying for 19 cents this time around and thus no decay in earnings year over year quarters.
. BWTHDIK We may have to settle for 17 cents representing a pitiful profit of about $1.75 bil for a year giving Dell a cash horde of around $10bil or 4 times that of Cpq.
