re: NVLS CEO comment on the business outlook of the chip industry

Don't the chip-equips have longterm relationships with their customers, to fine-tune and upgrade and service their products in the fabs, long after they are bought? So, they have people in the fabs of all the chip companies all the time. Wouldn't they know things like yields and production volumes as well as the chip companies who actually own (or contract to) the fabs? And the chip-equips certainly have a huge self-interest in knowing what the supply/demand balance of the chip industry is. I'd say their guess is as good, and as objective, as anyone's (which isn't saying much).
