Actually, Metcalfe's law says that the usefulness (what a vague, almost tautological term!) of a network corresponds to the square of the number of nodes.

It says nothing about the demand for storage.

Cb, If storage was such a necessity, then why are storage companies like NTAP and even EMC showing weaker results? It's really not as "cut 'n' dry" as you make it out to be. Storage is necessary, but as we found out it is also subject to economic conditions.
