Although others on this thread are likely to suggest that you, Third Eye, are blind (ggg), I agree. The precedent has been set by Hatch and his judiciary over the past 8 years. He cannot expect the Ds to roll and allow the (likely) jackbooted nominees of Bush to just ease through to confirmation. I hope the conservative nominees languish as long as many of Clinton's nominees have.

just my $.02.

If somebody doesn't put a stop to the writing of laws favoring the American left by the judicial system, then the only alternative will be to shut down the court system. It's going to be a long long time before you lefties will have another free hand selecting judges again. Your damage has been done in this area. Either it is shown that the judicial system can be reformed in the normal process of democracy, or the nation's representatives, in defense of their country, will allow it to fade away.

You lefties are going to feel awful lonely without your tort lawyer pals around to lend you support.

In actuality, though, I think this is an area where Daschlegephardt see's the long-term writing on the wall, and will cave after one or two symbolic wins, and the Bush team may feel they can afford those symbolic losses, if it gets Daschlegephardt out of their hair as they move on to a general reform...
