You know, that could open up some really nasty options for Intel. Since UMC and IBM are working together on their SOI process (i.e. UMC is licensing IBM's SOI process and maybe copper since they are using SiLK), then AMD could use UMC for the 20% they are allowed. Then IBM could be used for as many Bartons as they need, while AMD concentrates on squeezing some Tbreds and 'loosas out, along with getting the Hammers to market. Under that scenario they really don't need Fab25 for anything but flash. That way, if IBM is not tied down enough with terms of their contracts and does what they did to Cyrix, justified or not, then AMD has a handy backdoor. That is, unless the Hammers are their own version of Itanium....
