I think you understood the connotation of "jackbooted." Its nice to see the Rs on Judiciary confirming a few Clinton nominees. As far as Gregory goes, its nice to see an African American nominated to a circuit predominately made up of southern states. As a matter of semantics, his title will remain "Judge" unless he ascends to the Supreme Court. And all federal judgships (district, circuit, and supreme courts) are permanent (barring impeachment). regards, ham
