As for the businesses run by contributors here, I doubt they will be affected. For every customer you lose because he couldn't maintain an account, you might keep one because he didn't blow out his account through a margin call.

You are right on this I think. Nonetheless, businesses still might be affected. For instance our service somewhat oriented at traders with relatively small accounts. This regulation is going (probably) limit amount of newer traders starting with capital under 25K. It's going to be tough for them to handle initial tuition and expenses on their first steps when they are supposed to learn rather then make money.
Besides, we have the group of experienced enough traders with 10-15K that make a living. Apparently their arsenal of methods will be limited.
I don't think membership is going to decrease, it's rather about slower growth.

Personally I don't think it will be the end of the world for anyone. The vast majority of traders with less than 25k are going to be beginners, and not being able to trade using margin might actually help them preserve their capital while they're learning.

Yes, that's correct! But that's not the point! The point is what the hell right has a non-legislative department have
in making rules that interfere with a citizens right to make their own decisions when and how to play the markets.
Not to mention, if you Mr and Mrs citizen, exercise you're right to buy and sell property ,(stocks), more than the number of times that WE decide, we're going to brand you a PDT.

Their duty and obligation is to remove fraud and create a level playing field and access to the markets. Not cradle to grave big brother.

Come on lawyers, there's some big money here.
