I personally know of four people (friends) in CA who have purchased or ordered diesel generators. I've heard that businesses, large and small, have done the same. It does indeed look as though in addition to Stage 3 Emergencies (and blackouts) happening on a regular basis this summer, Stage 3 Smog Alerts from all of the portable generators are a possibility as well. Add in the projected $3.00 per gallon gasoline prices, a result of high taxes, lack of new refining capacity (NIMBY) and mandated "green" enviro fuel, and the prognosis is not something to look forward to.

I have fond memories of the years I lived in CA, but I'm very happy that I moved out when I did. My condolences to anyone who is stuck in the current mess. I can't see anything changing or improving unless, and until, the voters toss out the bozos and morons who are responsible for creating this disaster with their idiotic policies.
