Makes perfect sense to me, especially in a country where the currency is FIAT money. Any idea exactly what that "green back" in your pocket actually represents? The answer is nothing of any value. It only represents hope and faith that the US government will always be around to be able to bail out the banks - that's it.

So, it makes perfect sense that the stock certs that investors are holding are also valued with hope, but no real value is to be found.
