"It is estimated that worldwide they collected at least $100 million per year -- and that has been going on for many many years.""England is one of the few countries where the sisters allow the authorities at least a quick glance at their accounts. Here the order took in DM5.3 million in 1991. And expenses (including charitable expenses)? -- around DM360,000 or less than 7%. Whatever happened to the rest of the money? Sister Teresina, the head for England, defensively states, "Sorry we can't tell you that." Every year, according to the returns filed with the British authorities, a portion of the fortune is sent to accounts of the order in other countries. How much to which countries is not declared. One of the recipients is however, always Rome. The fortune of this famous charitable organistaion is controlled from Rome, -- from an account at the Vatican bank. And what happens with monies at the Vatican Bank is so secret that even God is not allowed to know about it. One thing is sure however -- Mother's outlets in poor countries do not benefit from largesse of the rich countries. The official biographer of Mother Teresa, Kathryn Spink, writes, "As soon as the sisters became established in a certain country, Mother normally withdrew all financial support." Branches in very needy countries therefore only receive start-up assistance. Most of the money remains in the Vatican Bank." If I gave you a check I wouldn't be surprised if you put in in a bank account. I would of course expect you to actually follow through with what you said you would do at some point. If I gave you a large check not for a specific purpose but to more generally support your helping the less fortunate, I would not nessiarily expect you to spend it right away. If your funds keep accumilating faster then you spend them on charity I might figure you don't really need continueing support from me, but it wouldn't necessarily be a sign that you misappropriated the funds. Then why would you have different expectations for THEM?? If you read the article (one of many posted), you would see that the Order has spent next to nothing for 50 years. You have read the written testimony of Sr Virgin and other nuns. I have seen nothing to dispute the testimony of these people--these people who had first person knowledge of where the money went, up to the point where it hit the Vatican bank. Without any evidence to challenge the words of these nuns, we are left with very few conclusions to draw, aren't we? Of course, we can fervently wish and hope that they are lying (religious people can even PRAY that they are lying). I DO hope that they are. I trust that you do too; otherwise we have a lot of ugliness to brush from our minds, don't we? Here is an article for you, again. If you have made up your mind that they are NOT lying, but you still don't care, then I would ask that you do not post to me about the matter anymore. Unless, you are willing to think about this issue, it is a huge waste of my time. If your responses are to be always non responsive to the evidence, then it is a waste of effort on my part to speak with you about it. I am hoping, that you are able to come up with some evidence that will dispute the testimony of the Sisters who have spoken out against these matters. I have not been able to find any such. Even a simple motive that would suggest the possibility that they lied--even this would be something positive in this whole sordid unmasking.http://website.lineone.net/~bajuu/
