Dear Monica, No. OTOH, the gov't does have the option of (1) raising taxes (it being the only entity that is allowed to legally take peoples money at gunpoint), or (2) cut spending, or (3) both. If it does none of these and puts itself in a position where it must borrow, it is going to have to pay interest. Period. You got a problem with that?
