I fault Reagan for not vetoing the dems big social programs. His investment in the military was money well spent, as it eliminated a world threat and constant drag on our economy. Best investment our govt ever made IMO.

As I said, in constant dollars, spending rose 22% over eight years. Most of it was for the buildup, of which I approve. He didn't decrease domestic spending, but did manage to limit the rate of growth. But I am not talking primarily about his Administration. The handwringing over the deficit has made it hard to contemplate large new spending initiatives, and therefore restrained the Federal government. Especially during a Democratic Administration, that was a very good thing.......
