With respect to But what ever is the need to drive through Death Valley I can only say that don't knock it if you have not been there. Visiting Death Valley is an awe inspiring if not downright religious experience. Standing at Badwater, with the Funeral Range rising up on one hand and the Panamint Range on the other, the glaring salt pan surronding you, gazing at the bajada sediments pouring out of the surrounding canyons, one can only feel very small and insignificant. It is a pilgrimage that everyone should make at least once. Beats glaciers, trees and waterfalls all to hell, IMHO.
