If I take a position to defend Christianity against posters like you why do you call it an act of hostility on my part but not on yours?

I am not calling it an act of hostility. My statement was meant to depict your beliefs as primitive (similar to a stone-age man). I have rarely in all my life attacked people. I attack ideas. People are not static. They are human beings reacting and responding to specific and subjective impresssions. People can change.

Ideas, on the other hand, can corrupt, change, and destroy people. They can desroy communities, they can destroy races, they can even destroy human kind.

My hostility is toward ideas--not people. Even when I come across very shalow and immature people, I still confine my criticism to their behaviour and words--because these thinhs are not static and immutable, but may be changed.

I despise most biblical ideas because they are ignoble and because they diminish humankind. My quick scriptual quote to you about the ugliness in 2 Kings was a random example. It is almost impossible to pick a random quote out of the bible that will reflect an idea or sentiment that good and rational people can with honesty attach their mind or heart to. There are a few, and only a few.

I will be back in the morning to respond to any thoughts you may have...
