>So I don't short. Don't use margin on the long side. And only rarely use options<

You continue to put out great advice. I for one am impressed with your experience. Newbies just don't realize how risky and how difficult it is to beat the market. Margin, options, and shorting are all risky ventures for the most part. I rarely do any of them either- and I have managed to turn a nice profit 80% of the years.

It has been WORK though. The days of easy money, buy and hold were over 3 years ago- although wall st. still spouts it religiously.

Inflation is becoming my big concern now. The only way the central banks knows how to stimulate the economy is to print more money. Inflation is an insidious thing. It encourages people to spend- since their dollars are worth more now than they ever will be in the future. And people wonder why the US savings rate is negative!

Get yourself some raw materials- land, oil, timber, gold, silver, nickel, coal, etc. If they're not making any more of it, it should be a good investment..
