They claim there is a shortage and jack up the price in Ca for a bunch of reasons. Even our gasoline prices are the highest in the country. The market pays what the market will bear and the market in Ca is fairly rich compared to the rest of the country. Our average home is worth around 400,00 dollars. The oil and energy companies have been generous to the politician's campaigns.

The energy barons periodically shut down their producing plants and claim there is a shortage. That is why an investigation is being launched. A couple of the energy companies have settled "out of court" in order to end the inquiry.

The energy companies are well aware of the retail cap on prices as they heavily lobbied for the passage of the bill. If the utilities can't pay then the taxpayers will come up with the rest........or so they think. If the retail cap is 6.5 cents then why in heck have the energy companies been charging anywhere from 45 to 70 cents.....especially when they supported the bill?
