Yep.

When I lived in NYC I walked right past a superb Jewish deli/meat market on the way to and from work. (Even there I took a ferry, but it was only the Staten Island Ferry -- lived on SI, worked on Wall Street.) I thought nothing about stopping off every day or two for fresh meat for dinner. And the corner grocer was only a block out of my way, so I could easily pick up anything I wanted on the way home from work. Whole different lifestyle.

If you do move in your retirement to a less populated area, I suspect your shopping habits will change, too!
