Scumbria,

With respect to you decision that "Rambus' patents looked like garbage" (sic)

Did you evaluate the claims? There are not many patents where "the wheel has been invented". Most of the time, these patents are improvements.

When evaluating a patent, one needs to look at the independent claim(s) and evaluate each limitation within it. Of course, some limitations may be well known within the art. However, there should be a limitation that is either "novel" or non-obvious.

Additionally, when evaluating a patent, one looks at the file wrapper history.

Remember, Infineon didn't say that the patent(s) were invalid. They argued that they were not infringing.
