Don, Well, one of the attributes of the dinosaur is the increased ability to think and react more slowly, which Intel has shown in spades. This has been called beurocratic inertia(BI) in modern times, in the pliestoceine it might have been called by another name, like 'what killed Intel, or is that where all the flies are coming from?'
AMD on the other hand has far less BI and has many advantages that flow from it's smaller more nimble stature.
It has been on a stern chase and yet has taken the lead.
The P-4 is not a leading chip, it is a dumb joke as a P-4SX is totally unable to fight back the Athlon horsey horde.
This dumb joke was forced on Intel by the BI that pervades the organization. I am sure all those that sounded the warning were silenced by the minions of truth who determine what is writ in Intel, I say writ as in 'holy writ', ie not to be questioned by lesser adepts.

Bill

Chrysler is a very suspect analogy. They were doing just fine, with the lowest production cost in the industry, till they were bought out by Daimler. If you here any rumors of Siemens buying out AMD, let us know, OK?

Hello DG,

But like Chrysler, AMD will fumble the ball and return to their mean a.k.a second tier.

Which is why we poor consuming Mom & Pops can get to choose such marvelous machines as PT Cruisers on the cheap. Long live the Second Tier! And may it always try harder!<vbg>
